My name is Courtney R. Boddie.

I am an online therapist with The Counseling Hub, and a practicing counselor in the state of Missouri.

If you are looking for a counselor who focuses on the following areas, look no further:

  • healing from internalized oppression (i.e., racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism)
  • living with a neurodevelopmental disorder (i.e., AD/HD, SLD, Autism Spectrum Disorder)
  • desiring to thrive, but feeling that you’re merely surviving
  • seeking career advancement
  • wanting to talk with someone about gender identity or sexual orientation
  • transitioning from one phase of life to another
  • working through grief
  • cultivating a different attitude towards anxiety and depression
  • processing trauma

These are common reasons people come into counseling. These are the reasons people seek help.

More often than not, folks still feel some sort of shame in reaching out. One of the reasons Tara founded The Counseling Hub was to diminish that sense of shame, to normalize the fact that all people struggle in some way during their lives, and to empower people to grow and heal in their own unique way.

The Counseling Hub is all about connecting, healing, and growing.

Psychotherapist & Educator

I aim to help ground you during times when the challenges of life threaten to overwhelm you, leaving you feeling adrift, without purpose, or without a means of finding satisfaction. I see my role as helping you find the means to transition from mere survival to a state of thriving.

If I had to sum up who I was in a few sentences, I would say this...

  1. I practice neurocounseling and Adlerian Therapy.
One of my specialties as a therapist is the use of clinical techniques to not only improve the health of your relationships with self and other, but your neural functioning as well. I’m such a nerd! I think the brain is the most amazing organ we humans possess, I want to help yours to work as optimally as possible.

  2. I believe learning to be the greatest adventure life ever offered me.
I have always felt connected to stories, whether written on the pages of a book series with exceptional character and plot development, or conveyed through biographies; I just love learning about human experiences. They were a source of comfort when I have felt the pangs of loneliness, and a means of escape when life was full of too much pain and uncertainty. That’s what ultimately brought me to the field of counseling and counselor education - a deep fascination with human behavior and the desire to understand it in complex and nuanced ways.

  3. I’m pretty obsessed with personal style and interior design.
Ok, so I’ve got to admit it. I spend a lot of my down time watching HGTV and Project Runway. It just amazes me the people can convert raw materials into wonderful, structurally-sound works of art. Welcome to my neuroticism!

  4. I absolutely LOVE cooking!
Nothing brings me as much peace and joy as preparing a meal. It gets me out of my thoughts (in which I can honestly get lost), helping me to regain connection with the moment through my senses. It also enables me to tap into creativity, which is profoundly cathartic for me.

  5. I'm not an expert on you.
It is safe to say that as a psychotherapist and professor, there is a lot that I know. However, you are the expert on living every second of life as you. I believe we have everything we need, but may not know how to harness that when it need it most. Pause and just take that in. I’m here to offer you encouragement and empowerment to re-author the story of you as confident and able to find your way when you get lost.

If you're ready to move forward with me, Courtney, at The Counseling Hub, then reach out today. I am more than happy to help you decide if this is right for you.
