There's a couple of key things to note here.

  1. Sessions are all between 50 and 55 minutes. This is considered a 'therapeutic hour,' which you can read more about by clicking here.
  2. Frequency of sessions will largely depend on what you're bringing into the sessions and what you want to get out of it. While this answer may vary between counselors, The Counseling Hub, in particular, sees clients weekly at first, for a minimum of four weeks. The first two sessions are primarily about fit, treatment planning (which is collaborative), and clear goals. The second two weeks are about getting and keeping that traction going. At this point, (the fourth session) the counselor and client will talk about frequency of sessions and decide if it would be beneficial to continue seeing each other weekly or two spread out to bi-weekly (every two weeks).

This varies so greatly from person to person that it's really difficult to give a direct response right here. Ultimately, it's going to be what you and your counselor decide. The caveat is, of course, the first four weeks, which are weekly.
  3. Duration of therapy is much like the frequency of sessions, in that it will largely depend on the client, the issues, and the goals. If you want a more detailed guesstimate on the duration, contact The Counseling Hub and Tara will get back to you within 24 hours.
