My name is Emily Jarrett. I’m a Clinical Therapist with The Counseling Hub in Columbia, Missouri, and a provisionally licensed professional counselor (PLPC) in the state of Missouri.

  • want support in reprocessing past traumas that still feel activating today;

  • tend to pursue or withdraw during conflict and want to better understand those dynamics;

  • often seek reassurance from others and want to trust yourself more, whether in daily choices or major life decisions;

  • are highly self-aware but want to relate differently to past experiences that left you emotionally wounded;

  • avoid expressing your needs due to fear of abandonment and want to set healthy boundaries;

  • feel chronically misunderstood and long to be truly seen and heard;

  • get caught in spiraling thoughts making it difficult to stay present as you dwell on the past or feel anxious about the future;

These are common reasons people come into counseling. These are the reasons people seek help.

More often than not, folks still feel some sort of shame in reaching out. One of the reasons Tara founded The Counseling Hub was to diminish that sense of shame, to normalize the fact that all people struggle in some way during their lives, and to empower people to grow and heal in their own unique way.

The Counseling Hub is all about connecting, healing, and growing.

My goal as a therapist is to help you develop a more secure sense of self by learning to use your emotions as a compass to guide your life. I support clients in becoming more mindful of their emotional experience in the present moment, while also exploring how past wounds may still be influencing them today. Together, we work to relate to past experiences in new ways, allowing movement through stuck points and limiting beliefs. I approach therapy with compassion and unconditional positive regard to help clients foster acceptance and psychological flexibility in their emotional experience.

Five Fun Facts About Emily

  1. I am left-handed.

    This has always been my “fun fact” when asked for as long as I can remember. Most of my immediate family is left-handed too, which feels pretty unique. Did you know that only 10% of the population is left-handed? I definitely am just a lefty living in a righty world.

  2. I am a huge Swiftie.

    Seriously, I've been a fan of Taylor since her country days. Through every era, she has always been my go to artist. I've seen her in concert three times and even have a signed CD by her. Her music has always been my safe, calm place.

  3. I love corgis.

    I absolutely love corgis. I’ve had the joy of having two corgis throughout my life. One is my late corgi Bell and one is my five year old corgi named Little Miss. I’m obsessed with their short legs, ornery spirits, and loving nature. They never fail to bring a smile to my face.

  4. I love to run.

    I got into running at the end of my undergrad journey starting with one mile races, which led to 5ks and 10ks. I’ve since completed five half marathons. Running not only challenges me physically, but also centers me mentally. I quickly became amazed at the mental health benefits from running.

  5. I love spending time in the kitchen.

    Cooking and baking are two of my favorite hobbies. The kitchen is my happy place. I love sharing meals with the people I care about. It’s a bonus if Taylor Swift is playing in the background.
