Understanding Good Faith Estimates

If you don’t have insurance or are not using it, health care providers are required by law to give you a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for the expected cost of non-emergency medical services and items.

This estimate covers everything from medical tests to prescription medications, equipment, and hospital fees. Your health care provider must provide this estimate in writing at least one business day before your scheduled services. You can also request a Good Faith Estimate from any provider before you commit to any service or item.

All new clients are provided with a billing document covering costs and billing-related policies upon confirmation of services, prior to their first appointment. Please reach out to billing@thecounselinghub.com with any questions.

If your bill is $400 or more above the GFE, you have the right to dispute it.

Remember to keep a copy or a photo of your Good Faith Estimate for reference.
