Grace Danbeck, Counseling Intern at The Counseling Hub

pronouns: she/her

These are common reasons people come into counseling. These are the reasons people seek help.

More often than not, folks still feel some sort of shame in reaching out. One of the reasons Tara founded The Counseling Hub was to diminish that sense of shame, to normalize the fact that all people struggle in some way during their lives, and to empower people to grow and heal in their own unique way.

The Counseling Hub is all about connecting, healing, and growing.

As your therapist, it is my job to offer you the non-judgmental space to process through your thoughts, emotions, and events in your life. I want you to feel valued and heard when you leave each session. I believe you are an expert of your own experience, so it is my hope to provide the personalized support, insight, and resources to work /with/ you to achieve your goals.

Five Fun Facts About Grace

  1. Family has always been most important!

I have a relatively large and close knit family that means the world to me. My parents are the most helpful and kind people I know. Anyone at anytime has a plate at their table or a bed to sleep in if they need it. I am the fourth (and last) kid, but there are many years between myself and my two older siblings, like 21 years! So I actually grew up with my siblings’ kids, which made for interesting conversations in school with my nephew and I being in the same grade and classes.

  2. I grew up on a farm.

Well, kind of, my parents home is in the middle of what used to be my maternal grandparents full working livestock and crop farm. The fun part for my growing up was we had the space and farm equipment to have a hobby farm. This included expansive gardens and any animal you can think of including some pet cows! I say pets, but little did I know the beef in the freezer that next summer did not come from the store. This is where I attribute my love of animals and appreciation of hard work.

  3. I love to bake (and try my best to cook)!

I enjoy trying new recipes and techniques, but have found some consistent favorites. I really love fresh bread so I've perfected my own recipe, but now every time I visit my dad I am sweetly persuaded into making some for him too. I try to cook, because I really love to eat, but there just seems to be more guesswork with cooking rather than baking! Occasionally when cooking, I'll call my mom and ask her to explicitly describe how she makes a dish we had growing up (which of course she can't do, since she has just thrown it together every time and it's always perfect!). I think moms just have skills that other people don't.

  4. I have a toothless cat.

My cat's name is KitKat and she's a (very) long haired calico. I got her from a shelter a few years ago, and she was half price! Foreshadowing to her first vet visit and I was told at 2 years old she needs all her teeth taken out, which is not a cheap surgery! Now she spends her days crying for wet cat food, sleeping on my bed, and spreading her fur on every inch of my house.

  5. I love music.

I listen to music almost all day so I can have some sound on in the background while working. I like music that has a story or can make you feel something. I was in band all through middle and high school and enjoyed being in the room as the music pieces came together. It's the same feeling I have when experiencing live concerts, I feel very grounded in the present moment.
