My name is Nanci Nikodym. I’m a Clinical Therapist with The Counseling Hub in Columbia and Jefferson City, Missouri, and a provisionally-licensed counselor in the state of Missouri. I specialize in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and am level 2 trained!
I might be a good fit if you…
don’t feel deserving (of much of anything), and often wonder what’s stopping you from feeling confident or having higher self-esteem
want to understand how to get back to a healthy, communicative, and loving relationship
are really tired of fighting and getting nowhere with your partner, and want to both understand and be understood
feel exhausted from your constant worrying and its interference in your daily life
are a survivor of intimate partner violence and want to reclaim your innate power and worth
want to say no without guilt, and feel confident being assertive
question whether you’re lovable, and really want to figure out how to genuinely share love and compassion with yourself
feel down, listless, or hopeless, and are tired of not getting the same joy out of life that you used to get
want to lean into boundaries with toxic or unsafe people in your life, including how to set them, when to set them, and how to hold them
can’t seem to manage ongoing or recurring stressors (big, small, or in between) and want to feel more in control of your life
feel frustrated by not finding a having a sense of peace or purpose in life amidst the daily chaos that occurs
are really struggling with a major (or seemingly minor) life change, and just need some space to talk it through
These are common reasons people come into counseling. These are the reasons people seek help.
More often than not, folks still feel some sort of shame in reaching out. One of the reasons Tara founded The Counseling Hub was to diminish that sense of shame, to normalize the fact that all people struggle in some way during their lives, and to empower people to grow and heal in their own unique way.
The Counseling Hub is all about connecting, healing, and growing.
My goal as your counselor is to help you recognize your strengths, sense of resiliency, and innate self-worth. People deserve to feel safe, non-judgmental, and encouraging support, and I try my best to ensure that’s the case for all my clients. In that space, we can reach insight and create change. You are the expert on your life, and my aim is to work with you to set and achieve the goals that are most important to you.
Five Fun Facts About Nanci
I love to watch TV.
Seriously, it's my favorite. I watch King of Queens every night when I go to bed. I have seen every episode multiple times and it still cracks me up.I love animals.
I have owned dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, parrots, parakeets, many different types of fish, ducks, geese, goats, snakes, rats, chickens, and a pig. Currently I have a fussy calico cat, Elsa, a silly and sweet 15 year old Pug, Simon, and a smart, sneaky and ridiculously cute beagle/terrier mix, Piper. They wear me out, but I can't imagine coming home to a house without a pet.I was born on Thanksgiving Day.
I have always gotten pie for my birthday instead of cake, which is fine with me! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I love watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. For my birthday this past year, my family surprised me with a trip to New York City to watch the parade. It was awesome and now I also love New York City!I am the oldest of four siblings.
They have always said I am bossy and nosey, although I feel as if I am helpful and inquisitive. We are very close and they are my very best friends. My life is better because of them, especially since they have given me nine of the best nieces and nephews!I met my husband halfway across the nation.
My husband was born in Camden, New Jersey. I was born in Encino, California. We met in Columbia, Missouri. Interesting how we were born on opposite sides of the country and met in the middle(ish). I guess when it's meant to be, it's meant to be.
