MORGAN SYLVESTER, MS, PLPC

Individual Counseling & Therapy and Online Counseling & Therapy | Columbia, MO

My name is Morgan Sylvester. I’m a Clinical Therapist with The Counseling
Hub in Columbia, Missouri, and a Provisional License Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri.

I might be a good fit if you…

  • need a nonjudgmental space, one where you don't have to worry about being accepted as you are

  • feel unmoored, lost, or just generally unmotivated, but you really want to be engaged in life again and aren’t sure how to get there

  • are wanting support and honesty from a therapist, one who encourages and accepts you, but is also candid

  • are looking to explore yourself, your relationship patterns, and your lifestyle habits, as well as strengths to make changes in any of those areas

  • want to understand your past in order to have a more fulfilling present and future

  • feel alone and stuck on a recent difficult event and its related feelings, and you want to process and unpack the whole experience so that you can move forward in life

  • are looking to explore and better cope with feelings of confusion, misdirection, and/or overwhelm with life

  • need a clinician who is responsive to your pace and won’t rush you to or through something, nor will force therapy to look a certain way

  • are a teenager learning how to navigate school, your friends, and your family all at once

  • have a child in need of a compassionate clinician who will explore the world through their eyes

  • are processing difficult relationships and/or struggling to connect with others

  • are living with addiction and would like to start or continue your recovery journey

These are common reasons people come into counseling. These are the reasons people seek help.

More often than not, folks still feel some sort of shame in reaching out. One of the reasons Tara founded The Counseling Hub was to diminish that sense of shame, to normalize the fact that all people struggle in some way during their lives, and to empower people to grow and heal in their own unique way.

The Counseling Hub is all about connecting, healing, and growing.

Vulnerability can be nerve-wracking, to say the least. My role as a clinician is to help create an authentic, safe, and supportive connection with you so that vulnerability and growth are central in our exploration of your inner world. My hope is that the vulnerability necessary for real growth feels safe and natural in the therapeutic space. From there, we begin our exploration of your strengths and what is blocking you from alignment in your life. My priority is to always approach therapy as a collaborative process. You want concrete, actionable steps? Boom, on it. You’re more interested in a broader journey of self-discovery? Perfect, I’m there with you. The space we curate is designed for you, and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of it with you.

Five Fun Facts About Morgan

  1. I love to be silly and embrace whimsy in my everyday life.
I will always be the biggest advocate for play in both children and adults. There is nothing more healing than engaging in something fun just for the fun of it!

  2. I'm a big fan of in-the-theater movie watching.
My partner and I worked night shift for a few years and oftentimes the only thing that's open late are theaters. We got into the habit of it and now I'm not even sure I can count the number of movies I've seen in past year or so.

  3. I used to be a major horse nerd.
I grew up on a farm and rode horses religiously. I even competed in barrel racing tournaments and state fairs. It's been a long time since then, but I would say I'm still a horse lover to my core.

  4. I believe that the social connections we make can majorly shape our outlook on the world.
Humans are social creatures and physically designed to connect with one another, to such an extent that a good support system of safe people makes an impact on our mental health! I always try my best to reach out to people... even when the introvert in me hisses at the idea like a vampire to the sun.

  5. I adore art in many forms.
I am not particularly skilled at any form, but I sure do love giving it a go! I like making things with my hands and feeling proud of my creation regardless of its proportions. Artistic expression is such a beautiful way to get connected with ourselves.
