Reaching out for help can be one of the hardest things to do, but I’ve learned it can also be one of the best things we can do for ourselves. Deciding to invite change into your life is one of the first steps towards experiencing life differently. Having a trustworthy collaborator can make that process feel less scary or less overwhelming. This is my role and one I love stepping into: helping to facilitate the change process in a safe, supported, and empowered space.
More often than not, folks still feel some sort of shame in reaching out. One of the reasons Tara founded The Counseling Hub was to diminish that sense of shame, to normalize the fact that all people struggle in some way during their lives, and to empower people to grow and heal in their own unique way.
The Counseling Hub is all about connecting, growing, and healing.
Coming into counseling can be difficult enough. It's our privilege to ease that transition and make sure you feel welcomed, supported, safe, and informed as your start this process.are
Five Fun Facts About Taylor
I believe in a world where one can be both a cat and a dog person!
My partner and I have a cat named Paul (she’s a girl), who we rescued from a ditch and a dog named Bodhi (he’s a boy), who is the handsomest, but we rarely refer to them by their names. Depending on our moods or the moods of the pet, they may be Paulie and Good Boy, or Kiki and Booster, or even Mouser and Bobby Boy Brown. They have the same birthday and get along very well for a 9lb house cat and a 50lb Australian Shepherd.I love to cook, but this wasn’t always the case.
Before I met my partner, the most complicated meal I could make was pasta: boil noodles, add a jar of sauce and parmesan cheese. However, I have learned to enjoy the flexibility and creativity of making meals from scratch, and recently have started making my own bread. I especially love cooking for an audience and sharing the different ways to prepare food in a healthy way. I make some pretty mean vegan enchiladas or eggplant lasagna, but also could whip up the most cozy French onion beef stew.I’m a voracious reader.
Last year I set a goal to read 20 books in the year, which I met, and this year I hope to read 30. I live a little outside of town and have found myself looking forward to my commute for the uninterrupted audiobook time. I love all types of books, but I especially enjoy fantasy stories (I grew up on Harry Potter, what can I say?), historical nonfiction (I don’t read these as quickly), and my favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself, and no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams.”I have the travel bug.
In my life I have been very lucky to travel all over the world: in college I spent a summer in Japan, two weeks in Jamaica, I’ve seen parts of Mexico and Canada, and have been working my way through all the National Parks in the US. My favorite so far has been Glacier National Park in Montana. I’m wishing for a world where we can all safely enjoy traveling together again!I grew up playing board games with my family every Friday night, and this has grown into a passion for games as an adult.
From traditional games like Monopoly or Scrabble, to games like Settlers of Catan or Codenames, I prefer to spend time with family and friends (or just by myself!) playing games. I also grew up playing a lot of Trivial Pursuit and am now a (self-named) trivia master. I get weirdly competitive at games and have been known to argue with the trivia host over acceptable answers. Politely, of course.
